Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP)
SOPIRET is implementing a sub-project supported by PKSF and funded by World Bank titled “Promotion of Natural Ingredient Made Handicrafts Entrepreneurship in the South-Eastern Region of Bangladesh”. The two-year project aims to improve microenterprises in the region by providing technical and financial assistance to 700 entrepreneurs involved in making eco-friendly handicraft using natural ingredients.

Project Aim
The project aims to improve handicraft making microenterprises in the region through promoting sustainable environmental practices


Fast Implementation
This two (02) years long sub-project is being implemented at Sadar upazila in Noakhali district; and at Laxmipur Sadar and Raipur upazila inLaxmipur district.

700 Micro-enterpreneurs
Under the sub-project, technical and financial assistance will be provided to seven hundred (700) micro entrepreneurs involved in making eco-friendly handicraft using natural ingredients

MARKETING MANAGEMENT
Under the sub-project, both online and offline marketing will be available for micro-enterprenurs in order to facilitate access to the premium markets (both domestic and international) for the handicraft produce by local micro-enterprises. In this case, the required funds have been already allocated in the budget for Facebook Marketing, website preparation in of establishing a dedicated saler center/ shop for the locally produced handicraft items

Product Highlights
Charcoal Production
In order to develop skilled micro -entrepreneurs for charcoal production from the coconut hard shell (locally known as Aicha or Mala), activities under the handicraft sub-project have been undertaken which will be implemented by providing a training and technical support to prospective micro-enterprises on modern production methods.
Ropes From Coconut

Virgin Coconut Oil
Due to the abundance of coconut production in the sub-project areas, micro- enterprises will be developed to produce cold-pressed virgin coconut oil leveraging modern methods using locally produced raw materials (coconut flesh) under the SEP project there are plans to create entrepreneurs for the production of virgin coconut oil or pure and refined coconut oil using modern methods from locally produced coconuts under SEP.
